SafeKid
Our SafeKid program encompasses all services available to children at the shelter. This includes group and individual counseling for child shelter residents, as well as for Outreach child clients. It also means support for mothers as they attend doctors' appointments, court hearings and job interviews. Through a partnership with Seminole County Public Schools we're able to offer the children tutors and homework assistance.
Court Advocacy
To assist you with the legal process, SafeHouse of Seminole has court advocates who help victims of domestic violence obtain injunctions for protection, assist in safety planning, and provide referrals, among other things.
Call 407-665-6226 or 407-665-6236 for more information.
Group Counseling for Domestic Violence
The emotional and psychological scars from family violence often remain long after the physical wounds have healed. Fear, loyalty, love, anger, self-blame, betrayal, family pressures, financial insecurity and other emotions may cloud the victim's ability to move on to the next phase in their lives with or without the abuser. Domestic Violence Counselors help them move from "victim" to "survivor" of family violence.
Our advocates conduct individual and group counseling as well as case management. Also on staff in the shelter is a children's coordinator who conducts individual and group counseling for our younger residents.
